Nothing Is Safe From This Mouth …

Nothing Is Safe From This Mouth …

It’s amazing what a puppy can do when you’re not looking. Nozomi had lots of fun chewing through the TV’s power cord, then snacking on the reception cable. Hopefully she doesn’t get too close to my server in the near future. USB and ethernet cables undoubtedly taste better …

Welcome Home, Nozomi-chan!

Welcome Home, Nozomi-chan!

This day has been years in the making, and it’s finally arrived; Reiko and I are now the proud caretakers of an over-excited puppy named Nozomi. Nozomi is a female miniature dachshund, born on May 7th of this year. Although she’s only been a part of the family for three hours we already know some interesting things about her.

Three Years And Counting

Three Years And Counting

It’s hard to believe, but three years have passed since Reiko and I traveled to the 各務原市役所 to sign the documents that would make us husband and wife. Thinking back on everything that has happened over the last 1,095 days, I still think it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Snow in August?

Snow in August?

Snow may be common in August for people living in some places very south of the equator, but it’s hard to believe that tomorrow’s weather forecast for here in Tokyo says “a chance of snow”. Of course, I can’t fault the weather guys for this one … there’s a chance for a big red spot to open up over Tokyo to match the massive storm on Jupiter, too … but it’s not very likely.

I Give Up …

I Give Up …

My parents taught me many years ago that when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Despite this fact, they’ve attached my email address to a spam chain containing 1,359 other email addresses. If I were an evil man, I’d send a message right back to each and every person …

Thanks for the Tip, Meiji!

Thanks for the Tip, Meiji!

Meiji sure likes to lay on the English when it comes to packaging. To make matters more interesting, they’re telling us how to eat their products, too! This might make sense for foods where preparations are needed … but for yogurt?

How I Explain The Last 14 Years

How I Explain The Last 14 Years

There have been a number of great authors who shaped my view of the universe, but very few have come close to providing the razor sharp wit and clarity we’ve often enjoyed from the words of Samuel Clemens, otherwise known as Mark Twain.

New Theme to Celebrate a New Home!

New Theme to Celebrate a New Home!

To celebrate the day Reiko and I officially find a new home in Chiba, I’ve redesigned the site from the ground up! Although still dependent on WordPress, it’s now 23% slimmer in terms of bandwidth, and the JavaScript isn’t a mess anymore.

Everything I've Refused, I Have Now Consciously Accepted

Everything I've Refused, I Have Now Consciously Accepted

Throughout our lives, we make conscious decisions about the things we will and will not do before they happen. Most of us are lucky enough to make the decisions that will guide our futures towards success, while others consistently make the wrong choices and end up struggling their entire lives.

Rural Japan

Rural Japan

With less than a month before I move closer to Japan’s ultra-busy capital, I thought it’d be fun to post two pictures I snapped while the Mrs. and I were enjoying one of our “7時前の散歩” (Before 7am Walks).

The New Neighbors

The New Neighbors

One of the nice things about spring is that lots of new neighbors come visit the house. Here are two of them that the Mrs. and I spotted this week.

Darn Firehose …

Darn Firehose …

It seems that my Google Alerts need to be modified a bit. Almost every Tweet is being emailed back to me a few hours later …

Indulgences

Indulgences

One of my favorite indulgences at work is Mt. Rainier’s iced coffee. But, when the day is particularly stressful, that’s when I go for the triple-combo: Mt. Rainier’s Coffee, a ツナマヨおにぎり, and one of many delectable breads.
