The downside of Au is the lack of "sexy phones". Sure, they have some nice ones, but not the one I want. DoCoMo might be the best bet, but I've heard so many bad things about them. Very bizarre. I'm an AU man myself, but if your wife has Softbank then it make sense to go for the friends & family discount plan.
